Foxes now in Charge of the Hen House

The appointments of Bill Daley as White House Chief of Staff and Gene Sperling to head the Council of Economic Advisors is another sign of President Obama’s concession to the Republicans. Sperling has close ties with Goldman Sachs, advocated the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act and is an outspoken proponent of free market, big business policies. Daley is leaving an executive position at J.P. Morgan Chase after similar positions at several other big firms. Policy wonks on the right are doing back flips with two key White House rolls now filled by anti-regulatory, pro-big business Wall Street bankers.
